Former England midfielder, Paul Merson, has said the Premier League title race would be over if Arsenal’s lead is eight or nine points after Liverpool play Manchester City on Sunday.
Mikel Arteta’s men hammered Sunderland 3-0 to open up a nine-point advantage at the top of the table.
Merson, speaking on Soccer Saturday, believes that anything other than a City win at Anfield will mean the title is heading to the Emirates.
“If the lead is eight or nine points tomorrow evening, the race is over,” Merson said.
“However, if Man City can go to Liverpool and win, that would be a real statement. It would certainly make Arsenal think.”
Pep Guardiola’s team have only won once at Liverpool – in 2021 – since he took over at the Etihad.
