The introduction of the Radspeed Pro HC and Fujifilm FDR Smart FGX-685 machines is revolutionizing patient care by delivering clearer, faster, and safer X-ray imaging, ensuring more accurate diagnoses and reducing waiting times.

Tambo Memorial Hospital recently introduced two new fully digital X-ray machines to its radiology department.
The machines, the Radspeed Pro HC (65kw) and the Fujifilm FDR Smart FGX-685, have been designed to optimise imaging quality and speed, revolutionising the diagnostic process for patients.
According to Zoliswa Nzeku, the hospital’s spokesperson, these new machines feature advanced technology that automatically adjusts settings to ensure clearer and more accurate images.
“This capability not only improves diagnosis accuracy but also leads to more appropriate treatment plans for patients.
“The machines are equipped with ceiling-mounted tubes and detectors that track patients during scans, making the process smoother and faster.

“By replacing older models, the hospital aims to enhance patient care, reduce waiting times and improve overall operational efficiency.”
Nzeku said one of the most significant benefits of the new X-ray machines is their ability to minimise X-ray exposure to patients.
“This advancement makes the procedure safer and more comfortable, reducing stress for patients undergoing radiographic examinations.
“The reduced radiation ensures a safer environment for both patients and healthcare providers.”
Sabelo Gwala, a 29-year-old patient who recently experienced the benefits firsthand, praised the efficiency of the new machines.

After injuring his hand while working on his car, Gwala was able to undergo a quick and comfortable X-ray process that lasted a mere 20 minutes from start to finish.
“It only took about 10 minutes for the scan and another 10 minutes to get the images. I was able to go back to the doctor for my report,” he said.
Radiographer Gladys Setou also commended the new equipment, emphasising its user-friendly interface and outstanding image quality.
“The new machines not only provide digital images but also offer low radiation exposure and outstanding image quality.
“They are user-friendly and provide a much better experience for both patients and healthcare providers,” she noted. The advanced image processing technology in these machines automatically detects key areas and adjusts settings to ensure each image is clear and accurate every time.
“It makes the job easier for us and significantly speeds up the diagnosis process, allowing doctors to make quicker, more informed decisions.”
