You chose principle over personal comfort – Kwankwasiyya commends appointees who dumped Yusuf-led govt

The Kwankwasiyya Movement has expressed appreciation to political appointees who voluntarily resigned from their positions in solidarity with the group’s leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

In a statement signed by the Movement’s spokesperson, Habibu Sale Mohammed, Ph.D., the Movement commended former Commissioners, Special Advisers, Special Assistants, Managing Directors, Executive Secretaries, and other political office holders for choosing principle over personal comfort and privilege.

“These decisions, taken with full awareness of the significant benefits being relinquished, stand as a powerful testament to integrity, conviction, and selfless service,” the statement said.

The statement further revealed that Senator Kwankwaso had earlier advised those who resigned to reconsider their decisions, emphasizing his belief that governance should prioritize service over personal or political vendettas. However, the Movement noted that those who stepped down maintained that their personal convictions conflicted with the directives of the Ganduje-led government in Kano State.

The statement also lauded the steadfastness of the Deputy Governor, elected representatives including a Senator, members of the House of Representatives, members of the Kano State House of Assembly, and local councillors who have resisted alleged inducements and pressures to abandon their mandates.

“Your firmness reinforces public confidence in representative democracy and principled leadership,” the spokesperson said.

The Movement urged those who remain in office to maintain professionalism, civility, and restraint.

“For those remaining in office on special assignment, transitional arrangements, or for genuine personal reasons, we urge continued professionalism, civility, and restraint. The Kwankwasiyya Movement will always extend goodwill to those who conduct themselves responsibly and refrain from unwarranted utterances or actions capable of harming, intimidating, or undermining our principal or the Movement.”

“History will be kind to all those who stood firm at this defining moment,” the statement emphasized, assuring members and supporters that the Kwankwasiyya Movement remains united and focused despite any pressures.
