Lagos govt seals Ladipo Spare Parts Market over environmental violations

The Lagos State Government has sealed the Ladipo Spare Parts Market along the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Road, also known as the Apapa–Oshodi Expressway, over repeated environmental violations.

The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, announced the action on Sunday via a post on X, citing indiscriminate refuse dumping and illegal street trading.

“The Lagos State Government this morning sealed the Ladipo Spare Parts Market along the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Road over repeated environmental infractions, including indiscriminate refuse disposal on the median and highway, as well as illegal street trading,” Wahab stated.

He explained that the enforcement was part of the state’s zero-tolerance approach to environmental abuse and disregard for public safety.

The popular spare parts market in Mushin was shut as part of ongoing efforts by the state to compel compliance with environmental regulations and restore order along major highways.

Authorities noted that the market had previously been sanctioned for similar offences.
