Polokwane – Moving at lightning speed like the animated cartoon character Speedy Gonzales in Looney Tunes, a male driver was nabbed by traffic police doing 188km/h on the N1.
The speed limit is 120 km/h on every freeway.
The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety said the 46-year-old driver was arrested on Monday, 9 February 2026, near Mookgopong.
He was detained at Naboom Police Station.
“To all speedsters, be warned: our officers have adopted a zero-tolerance approach to speeding on Limpopo roads,” the department stated.
“Expect consequences if you disregard traffic laws.”
