Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has clarified that the African Democratic Congress, ADC, does not have zoning in its constitution.
Atiku spoke on Tuesday after holding a closed-door meeting with former military president, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, in Niger State.
The former VP also said that his visit to the former military president was not about his presidential ambition.
When asked if the visit was linked to his intention to contest the upcoming election, Atiku said the “issue of contesting the 2027 presidential election doesn’t even arise.”
“We have no zoning provision in the ADC constitution. In fact, the only party that has zoning in its constitution is the PDP,” he added.
On the controversial transmission of election results, Atiku said he does not “support the mixture of electronic and manual transmission of election results passed by the Senate.
“It’s going to cause more confusion, and I think there’s a need for all the opposition parties to come together to pursue this issue.”
