Notorious thugs, robbers, kidnap suspect arrested in NigerĀ 

Niger State Police Command has arrested seven suspects in recent operations targeting robbery, house breaking, and kidnapping across the state.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun on 7th February 2026, at around 10:30 pm, police operatives from Maitumbi Division, led by the DPO and supported by vigilante members, raided known criminal hideouts in the Maitumbi area.

He explained that during the raid, Sudais Zakari of Angwan-Roka and Danjuma Idris of Maitumbi were apprehended.

The PPRO disclosed that before his arrest, Sudais was on the run for multiple crimes linked to the culpable homicide of Ibrahim Yahaya (aka Danladi Baushe), a member of the local vigilante group, in April 2024.

He stated that investigations also indicated his involvement in several armed robbery incidents within Maitumbi in 2025.

Danjuma Idris was arrested in possession of house breaking tools including a bolt cutter, machete, screwdriver, plier, a bunch of keys, a face cap, and a bag suspected to be stolen.

He revealed that on 8th February 2026, at about 3:00 am, another suspect, Aji Gana, was intercepted near Maitumbi roundabout by the Operation Flush patrol team.

Items recovered from him included a cutlass, a pitcher, pliers, screwdriver, two handsets, and a bunch of keys.

All suspects are under investigation and will be charged to court upon completion.

In a separate incident, Abiodun also stated that police in New Bussa responded to a report from Dogon-Daji village on 8th February 2026, following a midnight attack by three assailants, identified as Umaru Beto, Sidi (aka Smally), and Kutte, all from Wawa.

ā€œDuring the attack, a victim sustained serious injuries. Police and vigilante members apprehended Umaru Beto, recovering a locally made revolver gun, while the other two suspects remain at large. Investigation is ongoing, ā€ the Police spokesman.

He further explained that earlier, on 3rd February 2026, police operatives in Bosso Division arrested three suspected robbers following a reported attack on a victim returning from work at New-York Bosso.

The suspects include Abubakar Mohammed (24), Yusuf Usman (22), and Ifeanyi Nwabusi (26) were found with the victim’s cash, handsets, power bank, wristwatch, ATM cards, and other items.

Additional items recovered from them include 24 ATM cards from various banks and a POS machine.

Further investigation is underway, and the suspects will soon be charged to court.
