Kano Govt denies writing FG to block Kwankwaso’s entry

The Kano State Government has denied claims that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf wrote to the Federal Government to prevent Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso from entering Kano.

In a statement signed on Thursday by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, the government described the allegation, made by Alhaji Buba Galadima, as false and malicious.

The statement said the claim was an attempt to mislead the public and create political tension in the state.

“At no time did the Kano State Government write to the Federal Government or any authority to prevent Senator Kwankwaso, or any Nigerian citizen, from entering Kano State,” the statement said.

The government added that the allegation exists only in the imagination of its sponsors and should be disregarded.

It stressed that Kano remains a peaceful state where the constitutional rights of citizens, including freedom of movement and association, are respected.

The administration of Governor Yusuf said it is focused on governance and improving the welfare of the people, not on what it described as unnecessary political distractions.

The statement also criticised those spreading the claim, saying it is unfortunate that some individuals prefer to make baseless allegations instead of engaging in constructive political discourse.

“Dragging the Federal Government into local political narratives without evidence is irresponsible and unacceptable,” the statement added.

The state government called on Galadima to either provide proof to support his claim or withdraw the statement in the interest of peace.

“Public figures must understand the weight of their words and the consequences of misinformation,” it said.

The government reassured residents that it remains committed to peace, unity and the protection of the democratic rights of all citizens.

It insisted that no political provocation would distract it from discharging its responsibilities.
