Le quartier Gadaye (Yeumbeul, in the banlieue dakaroise) was seized yesterday, by an attempted kidnapping. A child of 11 years, a Guinean national, escaped justice at the hands of kidnappers, one of whom was apprehended: an ex-military. His accomplices, on board a vehicle, have taken the flight. The incident occurred at around 1:30 p.m. A.D., aged 11, was approached in the street by a hooded man driving a T-max motorcycle. A 4×4 with two women and a man on board followed closely, L’Observateur told in its edition of this Monday. According to the first testimonies, the hooded individual ordered the child to get into the vehicle. In panic, the child took refuge in a boutique owned by his uncle, Alpha D. The alleged kidnapper pursued him inside, presenting himself as the boy’s father and demanding to recover him. The shopkeeper refused and asked the man to remove his hood. This request triggered the fury of the alleged kidnapper, who gave a violent punch to Alpha D., fracturing his nose and leaving his face bloodied.
