”Diffusion of false news”: Assane Diouf is sent to prison

Assane Diouf spent his first night in prison yesterday, Monday. He was placed under a warrant for “dissemination of false news and offense to an authority that shares the same charges with the President of the Republic”. The dossier was entrusted to a doyen des juges. Before the investigators, the accused, who had informed them that his intention was not to harm, had maintained that he had expressed himself, as a Senegalese, on the facts, as the Constitution would allow him. Nevertheless, Assane Diouf had refused to mention the name of the person he was alluding to in his violent remarks. Despite the request of the investigators, he insisted that he was not targeting anyone even if he was talking about the Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko.
