Details of bandits’ attack on Kwara community emerge 

Details of the armed bandits attack on Gbugbu community in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State on Sunday has emerged.

A source told DAILY POST on Monday, that on Sunday, at about 6p.m, two soldiers approached a shop directly opposite an Hausa provision seller, close to Echigbo, in Gbugbu to buy food. The bandits, who probably had been in town since afternoon, wanted to kidnap the provision shop owner but on sighting the soldiers buying food, opened fire, and ended up taking away the Hausa provision shop owner.

“One of his brothers was killed and the soldiers chased them to the bush but were not able to arrest the bandits.”

In a similar development, one Muslim woman who was preparing Sahr at Bacitagi, a village about three kilometers to Gbugbu town, Sunday morning, was reportedly also kidnapped by the armed bandits.

Gbugbu, is a complex community with so many routes leading to the bush and soldiers can be at all points.

The source said “it was also dark during the operation. Soldiers guessed that the bandits inside the town must have been the ones that carried out the operation which led to the abduction of the Hausa provision seller and the woman.
