Johannesburg – Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe will have to spend more time behind bars after the Alexandria Magistrate’s Court adjourned his attempted murder case.
The 29-year-old son of the late Zimbabwean President, Robert Mugabe, and his co-accused, Thobias Mugabe Matonhdze, made a brief appearance at the Alexander Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 23 February 2026.
The pair was arrested last week on Thursday, 19 February 2026, at a plush Hyde Park property said to be owned by the Mugabes, soon after a worker was reportedly shot.

The 23-year-old worker remains hospitalised in a critical condition.
Although no firearm has been recovered, the accused, Mugabe and Mugabe Matonhdze, face several charges, including attempted murder, defeating the ends of justice, and illegal possession of a weapon.
Mugabe and Mugabe Montonge were remanded in custody, and their matter was adjourned to 3 March 2026.
