2027: Pat Utomi dismisses reported endorsement of Amaechi by ADC South South leadersĀ

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Prof Pat Utomi, has shed some light on what transpired during the meeting of the South South leaders of the party.

At the meeting, the leaders of the South South ADC were said to have endorsed a former Rivers State Governor and minister in the late President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, Rotimi Amaechi for the 2027 presidential election.

DAILY POST reported earlier that the leadership of the party denied endorsing Amaechi.

The ADC leadership described the reports as misleading, undemocratic, and a troubling example of how selective narratives can distort political reality.

Writing on X, Utomi said, ā€œIn Benin, ADC South South leaders met. Chibuike Amaechi announced interest in contesting for the Party’s presidential ticket.

ā€œHis request was received as is the tradition. No word of discussion took place on the matter. Representation of endorsement is inaccurate and disingenuous.ā€

Amaechi has since declared the interest to run for presidency in 2027 on the platform of the ADC. He would face competition from the likes of Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, who have also made their aspirations public.
