Russia has condemned the attack on Iran by the United States and some of its allies such as Israel.
Russia’s Foreign Ministry, issued a statement condemning the escalating attacks on Iran’s territory.
According to ABC, Russia called the attacks “a pre-planned and unprovoked act of armed aggression against a sovereign UN member state,” and urging an immediate halt and return to diplomacy.
Moscow accused Washington and Tel Aviv of using Iran’s nuclear program as a pretext while pursuing regime change and warned the attacks could trigger humanitarian, economic, and even radiological catastrophe across the region.
Russia also said it was ready to help broker peace and placed responsibility for escalation on the United States and Israel.
Earlier, Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, accused the US of having used its nuclear talks with Iran as a cover-up before military operations.
The country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged the international community to swiftly deliver an objective assessment of what it called irresponsible actions that risk further destabilising the region.
