Again, Israel strikes Iran after killing Khamenei

Israeli military on Sunday said it launched a broad wave of strikes in the heart of Tehran, capital of Iran, after its air force carried out a large-scale operation that killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The second wave of attacks has sparked fears of widespread instability in the Middle East.

The Israeli military added that over the past day its air force conducted strikes to open the path to Tehran.

Recall that Iran’s state media had confirmed that the 86-year-old leader had died a few hours after the US and Israel air strikes

DAILY POST reports that under Iran’s constitution, the Supreme Leader is appointed by the Assembly of Experts, an 88-member clerical body that supervises and in theory can sack that figure.

Iran TV disclosed that in another blow for Iran’s leadership, Armed Forces Chief of Staff Abdolrahim Mousavi was killed in the strikes.
