Senator John Fetterman has pledged to oppose any move by fellow Democrats to curtail President Donald Trump’s authority to carry out military action against Iran.
DAILY POST reports that while several Democrats have criticised the operation carried out alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Fetterman publicly defended the mission, describing it as necessary to counter Tehran’s aggression.
In a post on X on Monday, the Pennsylvania lawmaker commended Trump for what he described as taking necessary action to promote stability in the Middle East.
“I’m baffled why so many are unwilling to support the only action to achieve that,” he wrote. “Empty sloganeering vs commitment to global security — which is it?”
Fetterman also said he would vote “a hard no” if Democrats force a vote on a War Powers Resolution aimed at limiting the president’s authority.
DAILY POST reports that another Democratic Senator Tim Kaine confirmed on Monday that he plans to push for a vote on a War Powers Resolution he introduced in January concerning Iran.
In a statement, Kaine questioned the President’s judgment and called for the Senate to reconvene.
