Two more senior leaders of ISWAP have been killed in fresh air strikes in the Sambisa area of Borno State.
Security sources said the operation targeted Yuwe, a location within the wider Sambisa Forest.
They told Zagazola Makama, a security analyst in the Lake Chad Basin, that those killed were identified as Ali G3, described as the groupās commander in Yuwe, and Abdullahi Muga, another senior figure in the groupās leadership structure.
Their deaths followed earlier reports that other key commanders, including Saddam and Saleh Garin Kago, as well as Hussaini Ubaida and Ba Alayi Benbem, were also killed in the same operation.
The air mission was carried out by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai at about 6:08 am on Friday.
The strikes came after intelligence teams conducted surveillance on buildings believed to be terrorist command centres and storage facilities in the Yuwe area.
āUpon confirmation of the targets, the aircraft acquired and engaged the selected objectives with precision-guided munition,ā a source said.
According to post-strike assessments, the identified command centres and logistics sites were destroyed. Sources said this has reduced the groupās ability to operate effectively in the Sambisa corridor.
They added that efforts are ongoing to confirm the identities of other senior ISWAP commanders believed to have been killed during the operation.
Military authorities said they remain committed to carrying out intelligence-led operations to dismantle terrorist leadership networks and strengthen recent gains recorded in the North-East.
