Johannesburg – inDrive, the global people-driven mobility platform, in partnership with Cartrack, a leading provider of vehicle tracking and recovery solutions, has handed over advanced safety devices to drivers in Johannesburg and Cape Town.
inDrive and Cartrack are also introducing their new in-app card payment feature designed to enhance driver security and reduce reliance on cash.
These initiatives demonstrate inDrive’s ongoing commitment to driver welfare and safety.
Drivers participated in hands-on safety workshops and live demonstrations, learning best practices for using the Cartrack safety devices, responding to emergencies, and improving security during daily rides.
Each safety device comes with a six-month subscription to Cartrack’s vehicle tracking and recovery service, providing real-time monitoring, enhanced vehicle security, and rapid response support, giving drivers added confidence and protection on the road.
Cartrack specialists demonstrated how drivers can use the devices effectively, including emergency response procedures and vehicle tracking features.
The newly launched card payment option was also showcased, enabling drivers to accept secure, cashless payments from passengers, reducing risks associated with carrying cash or dealing with change shortages.
In addition to the safety devices, drivers also received practical rewards, including smartphones, TVs, and microwaves, supporting both their professional and personal lives as part of inDrive’s broader driver welfare commitment.
“Hosting these events gave us the opportunity to engage directly with our drivers and provide practical tools that enhance both their safety and daily operations in using the app’s safety features,” said Ashif Black.
“Our drivers drive our mission, and it was inspiring to see their enthusiasm and engagement with these initiatives.”
The Johannesburg and Cape Town activations mark a significant milestone in the ongoing inDrive and Cartrack partnership, reinforcing both companies’ commitment to driver welfare, innovation, and raising safety standards in South Africa’s ride-hailing sector.
