Morocco 2025: South African Coach Unveils Strategy to Defeat Flamingos

The head coach of Bantwana, Ntombifuthi Khumalo, has shared her strategy for defeating Nigeria’s Flamingos. This encounter will take place at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Pretoria on Saturday, as South Africa hosts Bankole Olowookere’s team in the first leg of the second qualifying round. The Bantwana aim to make their third appearance at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, and Khumalo emphasized their complete dedication to achieving this goal. Our goal is to participate in the World Cup. Khumalo informed SAFA that our strategy is to present our defensive approach after every 15-minute segment to avoid letting in goals. “Our strategy is to play aggressively and focus on attacking, as we cannot secure a victory without creating chances to score. However, our primary emphasis is on preventing goals and strengthening our defense.” We focused mainly on tactical preparations, particularly on our defense and our strategy to apply high pressure. We observed their strong attacking play during the tournament in January, which informed our training efforts. However, at this point, I’m pleased with the girls. Written by Adeboye Amosu
