‘Fabrication’ – Iran nuclear deal negotiator slams Trump’s claims

Lead negotiator on the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, Robert Malley has dismissed US President Donald Trump’s claim that Iran was close to obtaining nuclear weapons when the US struck the West Asia country.

Trump had earlier this week criticized the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, JCPOA, as a catastrophic error that brought the world to the brink of a nuclear-armed Tehran.

Last month, the US leader said he would ensure that “Iran does not obtain a nuclear weapon after Tehran attempted to rebuild its nuclear program, following the June 2025 U.S. bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities.”

Reacting to the development, Malley described Trump’s claims as ‘fabrication’, insisting that it was not intelligence.

“There’s no way that Iran would have been two weeks away from developing a bomb,” Malley told lead world news presenter Yalda Hakim.

“This is not intelligence, this is fabrication,” he added.
