The Championship play-offs will now include six teams instead of four, starting from next season.
This change has been in the works since the 1989/90 season, but itās finally being expanded.
EFL chief executive, Trevor Birch, confirmed the update.
He said: āAfter talking with clubs and other key people for several months, we believe this change will make the Championship stronger and give more teams and their fans a real chance to move up to the Premier League.ā
The main reason for this change, is to give more teams a chance to qualify for the play-offs and get promoted to the Premier League.
From next season, teams that finish in positions three through eight will take part.
