Another fire outbreak hits Taraba within hoursĀ

Residents of Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, were on Monday thrown into another moment of panic following a fresh fire outbreak that occurred just hours after an earlier incident in the city.

The latest fire incident reportedly occurred around 2:08 p.m. at Baba Ya’u CBN Bypass in Jalingo, barely hours after a similar outbreak was recorded earlier in the day in the Magami area of the state capital.

Confirming the development in a statement, the Federal Fire Service ,FFS, Taraba State Command, said it swiftly responded to a distress call regarding the incident and immediately mobilised its personnel to the scene.

According to the statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, Sylvanus Mikailu, preliminary findings revealed that the fire spread into a residential compound as a result of bush burning in the area.

The incident affected a three-bedroom apartment measuring about 50 by 100 feet belonging to Alhaji ASK Mai Tulare, which was used for residential purposes.

The statement explained that the emergency response was triggered after a distress call was received from ASFII Nurudeen Usman, prompting the rapid deployment of firefighting personnel under the leadership of ASFII Solomon Bello.

ā€œUpon arrival, the crew conducted a rapid size-up and initiated an aggressive fire suppression operation, deploying one medium jet of water from Fire Appliance FFS 206, driven by FA Auwal Muhammad,ā€ the statement said.

The command disclosed that no casualty or loss of life was recorded during the incident, noting that the swift intervention of the firefighters prevented the fire from spreading to nearby buildings.

It added that properties estimated at about ₦10 million were successfully protected from the inferno due to the timely response of the firefighting team.

The Federal Fire Service reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property through rapid emergency response, professionalism and operational efficiency.

The command also urged residents of Taraba State to adopt preventive safety measures by installing basic firefighting equipment in their homes and business premises to help control fire incidents before the arrival of firefighters.
