Mosque in Maiduguri denies bomb scareĀ 

A mosque in Maiduguri, Borno State, has dismissed reports on social media claiming that unknown persons planted a bomb inside the mosque.

The mosque, widely known as Malam Bako Mosque, said the information circulating online is false and has no basis.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the mosque’s management said no such incident occurred at the mosque or in the nearby area.

The mosque, which is located in the Layin Hadiza area of Maiduguri, said the environment around it remains calm and safe for worshippers and residents.

The statement, titled ā€œOfficial Statement from the Management of Malam Bako Mosque, Layin Hadiza,ā€ explained that the rumour about a bomb being planted in the mosque is completely untrue.

ā€œThe management of Malam Bako Mosque wishes to inform the public that the message currently spreading on social media, claiming that some people came to plant a bomb in the mosque, is completely false,ā€ the statement said.
It added that there has been no such security incident in or around the mosque.

The mosque’s management also warned people against spreading unverified information that could cause fear or panic among residents.

They urged the public to ignore the message and avoid sharing information that has not been confirmed.
ā€œWe urge members of the public to disregard the message and refrain from spreading unverified information that may cause unnecessary fear and panic in the community,ā€ the management said.

The Borno State Police Command spokesperson, Nahum Daso, also described the report as false and advised residents to remain alert while avoiding the spread of fake information.
