If NDC Abolishes Betting Tax, E-levy and COVID Tax, NPP Will Be in Opposition for 70 Years – Netizen Reacts to Upcoming Budget  

Ghanaians on social media have expressed enthusiasm over the oncoming revamping of some problem taxes introduced by the former NPP state in the 2025 resources reading.
Finance Minister and Member of Parliament for Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam Constituency, Cassiel Ato Forson, is set to provide the second budget of the novel NDC authorities in Parliament on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.
As part of the budget, the new National Democratic Congress ( NDC ) government is expected to abolish the e-levy, betting tax, covid-19 tax and other similar unpopular taxes that the previous New Patriotic Party ( NPP ) administration forced on Ghanaians.
The NDC campaigned on dismantling all of these fees and studies indicate the expenditure is going to do only that.
Reacting to reports of the finances abolishing these discriminatory fees, social media users have expressed excitement.
One netizen went so far as to predict that such a move would keep the opposition New Patriotic Party ( NPP ) out of power for the next 70 years.
” If NDC is able to scrap the Betting Tax, E-levy, COVID-19 and the sweet product income, it’ll get NPP seventy years to come to energy”, the netizen wrote.
Ahead of the funds display, the Finance Minister has been engaging young Nigerians on social media about their aspirations for the funds.
High on the list of problems mentioned were the replacing of e-levy and betting duty, which was a huge motivating factor in the junior delivering the NDC a resounding defeat in 2024.
