The Senate on Wednesday commenced the screening of Taiwo Oyedele for the position of Minister of State for Finance.
The session began following a motion by Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, calling for Oyedele to be admitted into the chamber.
Oyedele was led into the Senate by Basheer Lado, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Senate matters, arriving at around 2:21 pm alongside other government officials.
Among those who accompanied him were Kayode Ajulo, Commissioner for Justice in Ondo State, and Tokunbo Kayode, former Minister of Defence.
DAILY POST recalls that on Tuesday, President Tinubu formally requested the Senate to screen and confirm Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance, succeeding Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite.
In a separate request, the President also urged the Senate to confirm former Rivers South-East Senator Magnus Abe as Chairman of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission, NUPRC.
Both requests were outlined in separate letters read during plenary by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
