Iran warns US attack on power system could plunge region into darkness 

A senior Iranian politician, Ali Larijani, has responded to comments by former US President Donald Trump, warning that any attack on Iran’s power system could trigger wider consequences across the region.

Trump had earlier said the United States has the capability to quickly destroy Iran’s electricity infrastructure.

According to him, “We can take apart Iran’s electric capacity within one hour, but we have not done it.”

Reacting to the statement on X, Larijani suggested that such a move would not only affect Iran but could also plunge the wider region into darkness.

He warned that if the US carried out such an action, “the whole region will go dark in less than half an hour.”

Larijani added that a widespread blackout could create dangerous conditions for American forces stationed in the region.

In his words, “Darkness provides ample opportunity to hunt down US servicemen running for safety.”
