1. The Senate on Thursday witnessed a dramatic session as nine senators announced their defection from various political parties to the African Democratic Congress, ADC. Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe’s move triggered a constitutional debate on the floor of the chamber.

2. The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC, says it is closely monitoring the impact of the ongoing United States-Israel war with Iran on petrol prices and other consumer goods in Nigeria, warning that businesses must not exploit the situation to the detriment of Nigerians. Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Commission, Dr. Tunji Bello, disclosed this on Thursday while briefing journalists during the Meet-The-Press session at the State House, Abuja.

3. President Bola Tinubu has authorized the procurement of additional military equipment to bolster the Armed Forces’ campaign against insurgency and terrorism nationwide. Minister of Defence Gen. Christopher Musa (rtd), disclosed this after leading Service Chiefs to the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Thursday.

4. The abductors of a vigilante member, his wife, and 12 others in the Janjala community of Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, have demanded a ransom of N1 million for each of the 14 victims. This new demand comes despite the kidnappers already receiving food supplies and N500,000 in cash from the victims’ families.

5. Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) have killed at least 20 members of Boko Haram/ISWAP sect, including a commander identified as Abu Yusu, the Munzir of Dursula in Goniri Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State. The operation was conducted during a series of raids on Goniri community, which began on the night of Monday, 9 March 2026, and continued into the early hours of Tuesday, 10 March 2026.

6. Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Zamfara State, Dr. Jamil Jibo Magayaki, has defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC. Dr. Jamil joined the ruling party after the defection of Governor Dauda Lawal to the APC.

7. The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has said that its leading presidential hopefuls: Peter Obi, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Rivers State governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi are working together with a common aim: to stop President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC from returning to power in the 2027 general election.

8. The Federal High Court in Akure, Ondo State, has barred governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa from contesting the 2028 governorship election in the state. According to the court, allowing him to seek another term would violate the constitutional limit of eight years’ tenure.

9. Popular comedian, skit maker and social media influencer, Samuel Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggy, has been hospitalised after he was allegedly shot in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State. It was gathered that the incident occurred under the Sango-Ota bridge on Sunday afternoon.

10. Oyo State Fire Services Agency has recovered three bodies and rescued five persons after a commercial bus plunged into the Ariyo River along Amunloko Road in Ona-Ara Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday. The incident was confirmed in a statement issued on Thursday in Ibadan, the state capital, by the Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Fire Services and Chairman of the agency, Moroof Akinwande.
