‘Can we be fair’ – Thierry Henry defends Mbappe

Arsenal legend, Thierry Henry, has come to the defence of Kylian Mbappé, arguing that the Real Madrid forward faces an unfair level of scrutiny.

Henry believes that Mbappé’s remarkable accomplishments are often overlooked because of the immense expectations that have followed him since his teenage years.

“Sometimes Mbappé gets judged on what he is not doing or what he hasn’t done yet,” Henry stated via GOAL.

“And people kind of brush over what he has done, which I’m like, ‘OK, I get it, I’m not saying he gets a pass, but can we be fair sometimes?’

“There’s been so much expectation on this guy since he was 16, and he has almost always delivered. Look at the stats, if you look at the trophies, if you look at the numbers, they aren’t bad.

“This guy has played in two World Cups and reached two finals. I mean, if he goes to a third one, it’s not even the history of France here; you are talking about the history of the World Cup.”

Mbappé has amassed an incredible 372 goals in 475 club appearances across spells at AS Monaco, Paris Saint‑Germain, and now Real Madrid.

On the international stage, he has netted 55 goals in 94 appearances for the French senior team.
