US Embassy in Nigeria to close for Eid-el-FitrĀ 

The United States Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate Office in Lagos are to close for the Eid-el-Fitr holiday.

The announcement was made via the mission’s official X handle on Wednesday.

According to the post, both offices will shut down on Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, to mark the celebration.

ā€œThe U.S. Embassy in Abuja and Consulate General in Lagos will be closed on Thursday, March 19 and Friday, March 20, 2026, in observance of the Eid-el-Fitr holiday.

ā€œHappy Eid-el-Fitr to all our friends and families in Nigeria and around the world who celebrate!ā€ the statement read.

DAILY POST had earlier reported that the Federal Government declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026 as public holidays to mark Eid-ul-Fitr, which signifies the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government, in a statement issued by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary.
