
Former Chelsea captain, Gary Cahill, has criticized the club’s goalkeeper, Robert Sanchez, for his inadequate performance during their Premier League match against Everton on Saturday.
Cahill specifically pointed out Sanchez allowing the ball to slip through his legs for Everton’s second goal in Chelsea’s recent 3-0 defeat.
Chelsea faced yet another loss in the Premier League on Saturday, which came after their 8-2 aggregate defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
“Clearly, the goalkeeper will be extremely disappointed with that; you know, nine times out of ten, he would typically gather those, but it went through his legs,” Cahill stated as reported by Metro.
“Very careless, very careless. Currently, these situations are proving to be costly,” he further remarked.
The 28-year-old Spanish goalkeeper has already allowed 52 goals in 41 total appearances for his club this season.
He has achieved 14 clean sheets across various competitions.
Chelsea, in contrast, currently sitA sixth in the 2025-26 Premier League standings, with 48 points from 31 matches, just one point behind fifth-placed Liverpool.
