Pope Leo has sharply criticised the aerial bombardments of Iran, saying they are indiscriminate and should be banned.
The pope said this on Monday in āhis latest anti-war comments as the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran enters its fourth week.
Leo, the first U.S. pope, did not specifically mention the expanding conflict in a meeting with ā executives and staff from Italyās ITA Airways, but strongly decried the use of air power in the warfare.
āNo one should have to fear that threats of death and destruction might come from the sky.
āAfter the tragic experiences of the 20th century, aerial bombings should āhave ā been banned forever.
āYet they still exist, this is not progress; it is regression,ā he said.
The pope has called repeatedly for a ceasefire in the ā Iran war. On Sunday, he called the conflict a āscandal for the whole human family.ā
