The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Sly Ezeokenwa, has revealed why the party is forming an alliance with President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during an interview on Arise Television on Monday, Ezeokenwa said Igbo presidency is impossible without national alliance.
According to him, the party needs some sort of alliance because an Igbo man on his own cannot really make the presidency without alliance with people either from the North or from the western region.
He added that APGA shares the same ideology of âProgressivismâ with the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
âPolitical parties have what we call ideologies. If you go to the manifesto of APGA, you will see the ideology of APGA as a political party, and our ideology primarily, is founded on progressivism, which is the ideology that we share with the APC.
âNow we are saying that if you look at the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu, look at the manifesto of APGA and look at the manifesto of APC, one thing is common.
âWhat we share in common is the progressivism that we all profess, that at the end of the day, the most important thing is that we entrench progressive ideologies that is going to better the lot of Nigerians.
âNow, what we are going to do as a political party is that we align with Mr President, because we believe that based on the coalition or the accord that came into force before 1999 when we say that there is rotational presidency eight years for the North, eight years for the South,â he said.
