
Rangers defender Emmanuel Fernandez has said thereās no way he could turn down the chance to represent Nigeria, DAILY POST reports.
Fernandez, 24, was born in London to Nigerian parents.
The centre-back is eligible to represent Nigeria and England but has opted to play for the former.
The former Peterborough United star was named in Nigeriaās squad for the upcoming friendlies against Iran and Jordan by head coach, Eric Chelle last week.
Fernandez admitted that he canāt turn down a great football nation like Nigeria.
āWhen the call came in from Nigeria, I couldnāt say no.There was no way I would turn down a chance to play for a great football nation like Nigeria,ā he told the Rangers Review.
āThe idea is to go in there and try and make my mark.ā
Fernandez has made his mark at Rangers following his arrival from League One club Peterborough United last summer.
He is currently regarded as one of the best defenders in the Scottish Premiership.
