Police Arrest 2 Men For Possession And Distribution Of Child Sexual Abuse Material

Johannesburg – Two men have been arrested by police in separate raids for possession and distribution of drug-facilitated sexual abuse and child sexual abuse material.

The suspects were zeroed in after the national Serial and Electronic Crime Investigations team received an intelligence report about the crimes from the National Crime Agency of the British High Commission, Cape Town.

One of the men is also accused of drugging and raping his wife.

He allegedly filmed the assaults and distributed the disturbing pornographic material on an exclusive social media channel.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Amanda van Wyk said the men were arrested at two separate locations during “a multi-disciplinary takedown operation” on Thursday, 26 March 2026.

The team comprised investigators from the national and provincial SECI team in Gauteng, supported by the Department of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), US Embassy.

She explained that innovative investigative techniques and analysis led a multi-disciplinary team to the location of the first suspect, who was arrested in Boksburg, Gauteng.

The team comprised investigators from the national and provincial SECI team in Gauteng, supported by the Department of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), US Embassy.

“Forensic experts at the scene uncovered multiple images and videos relating to drug-facilitated sexual assault as well as child sexual abuse material, which were found on the suspect’s electronic devices,” said Lieutenant Colonel Van Wyk.

She said the suspect, a 34-year-old husband, allegedly drugged, raped his wife, and distributed pornographic material of him performing sexual acts on her without her consent.

Evidence found by police suggested that the material was posted on an exclusive social media channel over a period of five years.

“The victim appeared sedated and in a state of unconsciousness when these serious sexual offences were committed,” said Lieutenant Colonel Van Wyk.

On the same day, further investigation led the team to another suspect in Germiston with a similar modus operandi.

“The two suspects are known to each other,” said Lieutenant Colonel Van Wyk.

“Police also seized the 48-year-old suspect’s electronic devices and two unlicensed firearms found in his possession.”

Both suspects are expected to appear before the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court today, Friday, 27 March 2026.

They face multiple charges that include sexual assault, possession, distribution, and manufacturing of child sexual abuse material, as well as contravention of Section 16 of the Cyber Crimes Act and the unlawful possession of firearms.
