Four vigilantes injured as bandits attack Zamfara community 

Suspected armed bandits have attacked members of a local vigilante group during a routine patrol in Kanoma South District of Maru Local Government Area, Zamfara State, leaving four people injured.

According to a post shared on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred at about 3:30 p.m. on March 27, when the vigilantes were monitoring a route known for bandits’ movements in the area.

Sources told Makama that the attackers launched the assault unexpectedly, opening fire on the vigilante members during the patrol.

A source further explained that the ambush resulted in injuries to four members of the group.

“Upon receipt of the report, security personnel visited the scene, and the injured victims were evacuated to the Primary Health Care Centre in Kanoma for treatment,” the source said.

The injured victims were later taken to the primary health care center in Kanoma, where they are currently receiving medical attention.

The source added that security operatives have begun efforts to track down those responsible for the attack and to prevent a repeat of such incidents in the area.
