
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have stopped a planned attack by suspected ISWAP/JAS terrorists in the Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State during a midnight gun battle.
In a post by security analyst Zagazola Makama, security sources said the attack occurred at about 1:40 am on March 28, 2026, at Ajilari Cross, when the insurgents launched a two-pronged assault on troops positioned in an ambush as part of ongoing āen masse ambushā operational directives.
The sources told Makama that the terrorists attempted to overrun the troopsā position but were fiercely resisted.
āDuring the encounter, the terrorists attacked from two directions in a coordinated manner, but troops held their ground and engaged them effectively,ā one of the sources said.
He added that during the exchange of fire, the insurgents set two military platforms ablaze.
The source further disclosed that a Quick Reaction Force, QRF, from the Battalion Headquarters, led by the Commanding Officer, quickly mobilised to the scene alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, CJTF, and Crack Squad operatives.
āThe reinforcement team arrived promptly, engaged the terrorists and successfully repelled the attack,ā he said.
According to him, after the attack was repelled, troops launched an exploitation operation beyond the contact area to track fleeing insurgents and prevent regrouping.
The source said the military remains committed to sustained offensive and defensive operations aimed at weakening terrorist capabilities across the North-East theatre.
He also praised the collaboration between troops and local support groups, noting that it continues to improve operational effectiveness.
