Kwankwaso’s resignation anticipated – NNPP

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State has said the resignation of its national leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, did not come as a surprise.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Karaye, the NNPP confirmed that it had received Kwankwaso’s resignation letter.

According to the party, the action was anticipated.

The party noted that it followed ongoing consultations among opposition political parties aimed at forming a stronger alliance ahead of future elections.

The NNPP explained that the move is part of efforts to unite opposition figures and dislodge the APC government, thereby putting the country on a better path.

Despite his resignation, the party expressed appreciation to Kwankwaso for his role in building the NNPP over the past three years.

“We thank the National Leader for contributing to the strength of the party as one of the country’s prominent opposition platforms,” the statement said.

It added that during his time with the party, the NNPP recorded significant political gains, including producing a governor, senators, members of the House of Representatives, and several state assembly members.

The party also wished him well in his future political journey.

“We wish him success in the 2027 general election and in his future political endeavours,” the statement added.
