A former Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has resigned from the New Nigerian Peoples Party.
DAILY POST had earlier reported his resignation from the government of Governor Abba Yusuf on Friday.
In a resignation letter dated March 29, 2026, and addressed to the Chairman of the party in Gwarzo Ward, Gwarzo Local Government Area, the former Deputy said his decision takes immediate effect.
“I write to formally notify you of my resignation from the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) Kano State Chapter, effective from today, 29 March, 2026,” he stated.
The former deputy governor said his decision followed wide consultations and careful consideration of the current political situation.
“The decision comes after deep reflection and wide consultations with my political associates, supporters, and well-wishers across the state,” he said.
He added that recent developments in the political space made it necessary for him to reconsider his membership of the party.
“Recent political developments and the evolving political landscape have made it necessary for me to review my membership in the interest of the people, and the future of our state and the nation,” Gwarzo explained.
According to him, his decision was driven by the need to pursue a different political direction that aligns with his personal vision.
“My decision is informed by patriotic consideration and the need to pursue a political path that aligns with my vision for good governance, democratic values, and sustainable development of our dear state,” he added.
Gwarzo also expressed appreciation to the leadership and members of the party for the support he received during his time with them.
“I wish to sincerely appreciate the leadership and members of the party for the cooperation, respect, and support I received during my stay in the party,” he said.
“I remain grateful for the opportunity accorded me under the platform of the party,” he added.
He concluded the letter by extending his best wishes to the party leadership.
“Please accept my highest regards and best wishes,” he stated.
