A former gubernatorial candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and its leader in Jigawa State, Aminu Ibrahim Ringim, has formally resigned his membership of the party.
Ringim, in a resignation letter dated March 30, 2026, and addressed to the chairman of the NNPP in Ringim Ward, Ringim Local Government Area, said his decision takes immediate effect.
He explained that the move followed careful reflection and consultation, though he did not state his next political destination.
“I remain grateful for the opportunity to have served as the party’s gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 general elections and as a leader of the party in Jigawa State,” he stated.
Ringim also appreciated the support and cooperation he received from party leaders and members at all levels, noting that the experience and relationships built during his time in the party would continue to be valued.
He further wished the NNPP success in its future endeavours.
The resignation adds to a growing list of political realignments in Jigawa State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Although he did not indicate his next move, findings revealed that he is set to join his political mentor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, who recently joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
