Police arrest suspects, recover rifles after Taraba officers’ killing

The Taraba State Police Command has arrested suspects linked to the killing of three police officers in Tor Damisa village, Donga Local Government Area, and recovered firearms stolen during the attack.

The Commissioner of Police, Morkwap S. Dongshal, made this known while briefing journalists on Thursday at the Command’s headquarters in Jalingo.

The development follows a recent ambush in Donga Local Government Area, where suspected militias killed three police officers and made away with their service rifles.

According to the police commissioner, two suspects—Suleman Abdullahi, 30, and Idris Kauri, 33, both from Akente Village—have been arrested in connection with the attack and are currently in custody.

He added that all three stolen service firearms have been recovered, describing the feat as a major operational breakthrough. Efforts, he said, are ongoing to track down other accomplices still at large.

In a separate operation, officers attached to the Zing Divisional Police Headquarters intercepted two additional suspects during a stop-and-search exercise at Yonko.
