Police arrest man for impersonating soldier amid Plateau security crisis

The Plateau State Police Command has arrested a man for allegedly impersonating a soldier in the Angwan Rukuba community of Jos North Local Government Area.

The suspect was apprehended during ongoing security operations in the area and has since been taken to the state police headquarters in Jos.

Confirming the arrest in a statement issued on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Alfred Alabo, invited members of the press to witness the parade.

The development comes amid heightened security measures in Jos following a recent attack in Angwan Rukuba that reportedly claimed 28 lives, raising fresh concerns over safety in the area.

In response to the deteriorating security situation, the Plateau State government had earlier imposed a 48-hour curfew in parts of the state capital, which has since been relaxed.

Security agencies have continued to reassure residents of their commitment to restoring peace, noting that joint operations are ongoing to maintain law and order across affected communities.

The police said further details on the suspect’s identity and alleged activities would be disclosed during the official parade.
