
A member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) has been killed in Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State following a disagreement with a repentant Boko Haram member.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred on April 3 at about 10:16 am, when an argument broke out between the two men in Mafa town.
According to the sources, the suspect, Abba Gana, 20, a repentant Boko Haram member working with the CJTF, allegedly shot Adamu Ali, 25, in the chest with an AK-47 rifle during the argument.
The victim was quickly taken to the General Hospital in Mafa, where he was confirmed dead on arrival.
The suspect was later arrested and handed over to the police by the CJTF commander in Mafa, Abba Sadu.
Security sources added that the scene was visited and documented, and the weapon used in the shooting was recovered as evidence.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Maiduguri has commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
