
The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with a burglary that led to the theft of goods worth about N1.2 million in Bauchi.
The incident was reported on April 2, 2026, when a shop owner, Hamza Salihu Muhammad, lodged a complaint at the A Division Police Station, stating that unknown persons had broken into his shop located at Isiyaka Jibrin Garage and carted away several items.
According to the police, the stolen items included a generator, bicycle, sewing machine, circular saw, four drilling machines, a gallon of gum, and other valuables.
The spokesperson of the command, Nafiu Habib, confirmed in a statement that investigations led to the arrest of two suspects identified as Danlami Suleiman, 25, of Bayan Gari area, and Hakilu Alhaji Bawa, 50, of Sabuwar Kasuwa Railway area, Bauchi.
He added that all the stolen items, except the generator, had been recovered from the suspects.
The Commissioner of Police, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, commended the Divisional Police Officer and his team for what he described as a breakthrough, urging officers to sustain intelligence-led policing in tackling crime.
Aliyu also advised residents to adopt effective security measures in their homes and business premises and to promptly report any suspicious activities to security agencies.
The suspects are currently in police custody, while investigations continue to recover the remaining items and arrest other fleeing suspects.
