Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have rescued one victim and recovered ammunition following a deadly attack on two residents in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident occurred at about 7:50 p.m. on April 6, 2026, along DUM village in Bachi District, when troops on routine patrol responded swiftly to distress reports from the area.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that upon arrival at the scene, troops launched a coordinated search and rescue operation, leading to the successful rescue of one victim.
āOur personnel responded promptly to reports of the attack and carried out a search and rescue mission, during which one victim was safely rescued,ā a security source said.
Tragically, the troops also discovered the lifeless body of another victim at the scene.
During the operation, security operatives recovered eight empty cases of 7.62mm special ammunition as well as a motorcycle believed to be linked to the attackers.
āEfforts are ongoing to track down the perpetrators, while patrols have been intensified across the area to forestall further attacks,ā the source added.
Authorities say the increased military presence in the area is part of broader efforts to restore calm and enhance security in affected communities.
