US President Donald Trump on Thursday said American military forces would remain stationed in and around Iran until a “real agreement” is fully complied with, warning of a stronger response if the deal fails.
This is even as Trump said that the US military is currently “loading up and resting,” while anticipating potential future action.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said US ships, aircraft and personnel—along with additional ammunition and weaponry—have been positioned for what he described as the “lethal prosecution and destruction of an already substantially degraded enemy.”
He warned that if the agreement is not honored, the United States would respond with force “bigger, and better, and stronger than anyone has ever seen before.”
Trump also reiterated that Iran must not acquire nuclear weapons and stressed that the Strait of Hormuz must remain open and secure.
“It was agreed, a long time ago, and despite all of the fake rhetoric to the contrary – NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS and, the Strait of Hormuz WILL BE OPEN & SAFE. In the meantime our great Military is Loading Up and Resting, looking forward, actually, to its next Conquest,” Trump said.
