US Vice President, JD Vance has stated that there were achievements resulting from the peace negotiations between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Vance remarked that the discussions “did make some progress,” particularly regarding the US demand for the removal of nuclear materials from Iran, as well as establishing a mechanism to prevent future uranium enrichment.
“They moved in our direction,” Vance expressed during an interview with Fox News. He noted that he believed Iranian negotiators were “unable to finalize an agreement” and required approval from other officials in Tehran.
Vance further mentioned that US negotiators made it clear that Trump “would be very pleased if Iran were treated as a normal country, with a standard economy,” although he refrained from elaborating on what he meant by that.
“I genuinely believe there is a significant deal to be made here. However, it is up to the Iranians to take the next step,” he stated.
It is important to note that the Vice President, who led the US delegation in the US-Iran peace talks, has indicated that Iran rejected the proposals put forth by the United States.
He pointed out that Iran has dismissed the conditions suggested by the US.
Various media sources report that neither party has achieved any progress, despite over 21 hours of discussions in the capital of Pakistan.
While Iran’s foreign ministry accused the US of imposing unreasonable demands and illegal requests, the US claimed to be ‘quite flexible, quite accommodating,’ yet Iran has declined to accept the terms.
