
Following allegations of extortion circulating on social media, the Zone 7 Police Headquarters, Abuja, under the leadership of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG, has responded to claims involving personnel of its Cybercrime Section and ordered an immediate investigation into the matter.
In a statement issued by ASP Mohammed Halima, PPRO, for the AIG, Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, the Command emphasized that, beyond its core policing responsibilities, it serves as the administrative and supervisory authority over the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command and the Niger State Police Command.
ASP Mohammed explained that the Zone maintains strict oversight to ensure discipline, professionalism, and compliance with established laws among its personnel.
While no formal complaint was received prior to the emergence of the social media report, she stated that the AIG has nonetheless directed a comprehensive investigation to ascertain the facts and address any proven misconduct.
” The AIG remains resolute in his commitment to combating corruption and all forms of unprofessional conduct, in line with the reform agenda of the Inspector-General of Police,” the statement said.
According to her, the Command will not condone any action that undermines public trust, and any officer found culpable will be dealt with decisively in accordance with the law
