Proceedings in the trial of former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, were stalled on Thursday at the Federal High Court, Maitama, after the defendant failed to file his final written address.
Mamman is facing prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a 12-count charge bordering on alleged money laundering involving N33.8 billion.
At the resumed hearing before Justice James Omotosho, counsel to the defendant, Femi Atteh, confirmed receipt of the prosecutionās final written address but informed the court of a pending motion seeking an extension of time.
āAtteh told the court that the defence filed a motion on April 1, 2026, requesting additional time to enable it to submit its final written address,ā the court heard.
Prosecution counsel, Rotimi Oyedepo, did not oppose the application.
Ruling on the request, Justice Omotosho granted the extension, adjourning the matter to April 23, 2026, for the adoption of final written addresses.
The case is part of ongoing efforts by the EFCC to prosecute high-profile financial crimes involving public officials.
