Nigerian govt seeks more investment as Interior Minister meets ExxonMobil official 

he Federal Ministry of Interior has expressed optimism over increasing foreign investment in Nigeria, linking the development to ongoing reforms by the Federal Government.

The development was disclosed in a statement shared on the official page of the ministry.

According to the statement, the Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the remarks during a meeting with Jagir Baxi of ExxonMobil.

The minister said recent policy changes under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have contributed to improved investor confidence, particularly in the oil sector.

He also called for increased investment in offshore oil exploration, assuring that the government remains committed to creating a conducive environment for investors.

The statement noted that the minister commended ExxonMobil for its contributions to Nigeria’s economy, including investments estimated at over $3.5 billion.

In his remarks, Baxi reaffirmed the company’s long-term commitment to Nigeria, highlighting projects such as the Erha platform and its contributions through taxes, royalties, and other payments.

The ministry added that discussions focused on strengthening collaboration between the government and investors to support economic growth.
