Fire ravages residential building, truck loaded with palm kernel shafts in IbadanĀ 

Properties worth millions of naira have been ravaged as a result of a fire that affected a residential building in Ibadan.

DAILY POST gathered that a truck loaded with palm kernel shafts was also ravaged by fire.

The two incidents occurred on Tuesday.

Our correspondent gathered that the residential building is located at Sabo Suya Road, Mokola, in Ibadan.

It was learnt that the ancient residential building with six rooms was affected by the fire.

Properties worth millions of naira were said to have been affected.

DAILY POST gathered that the second incident occurred in front of a petroleum station located on Alakia Expressway in Ibadan.

Chairman of Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the two incidents.

Akinwande, in a statement made available to DAILY POST on Tuesday evening, added that no life was lost in the two incidents.

Akinwande, while confirming the first incident, said, ā€œUpon arrival, it was an ancient residential building of six rooms met well alighted and covered with thick smoke. No casualty was recorded.ā€

Akinwande, while confirming the second incident, said, ā€œOn getting there, it was an Iveco trailer truck with regd. No unknown, loaded with palm kernel shafts, caught fire whilst on motion.ā€
